Weekly Workouts

Another week down...it's hard to believe that RNRLV is in two weeks...December is around the corner.
I had some good workouts this week.  I am enjoying getting two runs in on Wednesdays (I know, its odd).  And if I can keep my weekly mileage around 25 miles a week, I just might break the 1000 mile mark by the end of the year.
I have had some pain in my hip though, not while running, but after.  I am headed to the chiropractor tomorrow in hopes that he can help.  And I think I am going to skip the local Turkey Trot, don't want to make things worse before Vegas.
Looking forward to a short work week and a long weekend.  Can't believe Thanksgiving is this week!

Sick days...

I rarely take sick days for me.  I take days off when we have a trip planned, when my kids have something fun at school that I don't want to miss out on, or when they are sick, or when I just need a break.  With a husband who is home two to three weekdays each week, I have been able to avoid taking very many days off due to sick kids the last few years and the kids have been pretty healthy.
Fast forward to Friday morning.  My son had woken us up a few times the night before crying that his head hurt.  I just figured he was having trouble sleeping.  I guess I was wrong.  He woke up crying.  He's five, he doesn't wake up crying anymore.  He was complaining about his ear.  A lot.  He doesn't complain about pain when he has ear infections ever.  It was 6:45 am.  My husband had left to Oregon at 3:45 am for a guys weekend.  My mom wasn't coming over until 7:30.  I had no sub plans done at work.  I needed to stay home with my son and take him to the doctor.  I was stressed.
I text my husband.  I text my mom to come over earlier.  I started calling substitutes.  As soon as my mom got here, I rushed to school and got my classroom set up.  A substitute filled the job.  And I came back home to this guy.
We spent the day watching movies and playing UNO and memory.  I took him to the doctor where she confirmed that he had a pretty bad ear infection.  We got some antibiotics that should have him feeling better by the end of the weekend.  And hopefully today, he will feel good enough for Happy Feet 2 and In n Out Burger.
It was definitely an unplanned sick day, and stressful at first, but everything worked out and it was nice to have a little break from work.

I wish every weekend was a three-day weekend!

It has been so nice to have an extra day off this weekend.  I think I may go back to work feeling like I had a break!  My husband and I went out two nights this weekend (which never happens) and had a good time with friends we hadn't seen in awhile.  We also went on a few bike rides, built Lego contraptions, and played few games of Uno with these guys.
Just one of the many incredible photographs our photographer took a few weekends ago!  Can't wait to see the rest!

As for running, I was very sore on Monday after the half marathon.  Apparently, I pushed my body pretty hard.  I finally got on the treadmill on Tuesday afternoon despite my very tight calves.  An easy three miles helped loosen them up a bit.  Even though my legs loosened up over the course of the week, I took it easy .  I did five three miles runs, two of which were on Friday, and none under nine minute pace
This week I will be going back to a training program.  I like Smart Coach with a little bit of tweaking here and there, so I will be using it for the next three weeks for the RNRLV half.  I am really not sure what my goal for this race will be, it might just be a start line decision and I might just base it on how I feel that day.
