My husband will tell you that I am a little over the top about keeping track of things, making sure everything is on the calendar, etc.  Those same tendencies usual carryover into my training hence my spreadsheet for my training plan and inputting every mile into dailymile.com.
I also usually know my exact running schedule for the week.  He can ask me about it and I rattle it off.  Well, that all went south this week.  I ran this week's schedule last week and to top it off, I didn't even realize what I had done until Wednesday.  Oh, well, I just swapped weeks.  They have the same total mileage, so I figure it can't hurt.
But, that is only one of the reasons my husband thinks I've lost my mind.  A few months ago, after my last half marathon, I forgot to put my insoles back in my training shoes and I ran three, four, maybe even five runs without insoles before I realized it.  Well, this week was worse.  Apparently early last Thursday morning when I switched out my running shoes, I only managed to put in one insole.  I ran my run on Thursday and never even realized it until the next day when my husband text me a picture of my running shoes asking me if I noticed anything.  What a dummy.  I guess that is one drawback of running at the crack of dawn (not for everyone, but for me)!

Friday Favorites

I missed my chance for Three for Thursday, so let's try a Friday Favorites post.

Here are a few of my favorite things right now..
I LOVE these shorts.  I bought them at the North Face outlet in Berkeley for a steal and would have bought three more pairs had I know I would not be able to find them again!
These Zensah Sports Bras are awesome....comnfy, soft, and no rubbing whatsoever!
Our treadmill.....been logging a lot of miles on it.  A few weeks ago, I did my entire weekly mileage (10 miles) on it.  I like it even more now that it works (98%) of the time.
My nano....I have been listening to The Search by Nora Roberts for quite some time now, it's a pretty good book and it passes the time.
And lastly, SWEETS.  I have a huge sweet tooth lately.  I made these the other day and they were delicious.  You can find them here!

Happy Friday!!

I guess I never did a weekly recap last week...
Last week was a step down week.  It was a nice break and my legs were pretty fresh and ready for this week.  Both weeks' workouts went really well, especially today's long run of ten miles.  I felt great and never had to stop for a light or car for 9.5 miles.  This never happens!
Two Cities Half Marathon is only three weeks away and I think I am ready.  I am supposed to do two more ten mile runs before the race, but the last one is going to be tough to fit in as it is our last soccer game and we are having family photos taken that evening.
Also, there are only three weeks between Two Cities and RNRLV, so I will have to decide how to keep my training going.  Any suggestions?

Hope you are enjoying the weekend!

Three for Thursday...

Haven't done one of these in awhile, actually haven't posted much at all lately.  So, here it goes...

  • The kids have chose their Halloween Costumes.  Their choices couldn't be more different.
  • I have been thinking a lot about running faster, I bought the books, but never adjusted my training plan.  Maybe next training cycle, still have that sub-1:50 goal though.
  • Looking forward to getting this tomorrow!

Have a great rest of the week!

SPIbelt Review and Giveaway!

Quite a while back I won a SPIbelt from Jennifer at runner....maybe.

I was a little skeptical of the SPIbelt just because I am not a huge fan of wearing a hydration belt because of all the movement...those things never stay put!  I assumed that the SPIbelt would do the same thing.  Boy was I wrong!

I wore my SPIbelt and carried my phone a few weeks ago when my husband and I went on a trail run (and thank goodness I did...the GPS came in very handy since we got lost).  Within a few miles, I was sold.  It never moved or bounced.  The  SPIbelt stayed low on my hips and the phone stayed secure in the pouch.  I will definitely be using this product in the future!

SPIbelt is definitely worth the investment!  The  SPIbelt comes in lots of colors and has add-ons, too, such as a race number clips.  SPIBelts are very reasonably priced and you can take advantage of free shipping.

And even better, SPIbelt is offering a SPIbelt to give away to one of you!!

Here is how you can win a SPIbelt of your very own (leave a comment for each entry):

Mandatory:
  • Become a Google Friend Connect Follower of The Pace of my Life or let me know that you already are.
For extra entries:
  • Visit the SPIbelt website and let me know what color belt you would choose.
  • Spread the word about the giveaway via Facebook, Twitter, your own blog, bull horn, whatever works for you!
The giveaway ends at 12:01am PST on Monday, October 17th!  A winner will be chosen using random.org.

Good luck and have a relaxing Sunday!!

Disclaimer: I was sent this product free of charge.  These opinions are my own.

Weekly Recap

Apparently I have become a weekend blogger and I am barely making one post this weekend.  It has been hard to find the time to blog lately and especially hard to find time to read blogs.  I have a couple items for review and giveaway stored in my desk and I really do hope to get at least one review and giveaway posted this week.

Work... School has been going well.  My class was a bit chatty this week, but when I look back on last year, I am very thankful for these kids.  Last year's class could not be quiet to save their lives.  We have our first round of benchmark testing coming up this week and I am very curious to see how they do.  I took a half day on Friday, so I could go to my son's first jog-a-thon and once we were finished that we were able to relax for the rest of the afternoon, which was really nice.
Home... this week and weekend flew by!  I can't believe it is already October!
While we didn't have that many activities this week, the weekend seemed busy.  We had a soccer game on Saturday and the boys are getting better, so it is fun to see that.  My mother-in-law was here overnight Saturday, too, as were two of the cousins.  So, the kids had a big slumber party in my son's room and got to bed late and woke up at the crack of dark.  So once everyone left today, the kids and I took naps.  They were much needed!
Running...We think that they finally fixed our treadmill, which is great news for me because it hasn't worked in its full capacity since we got it and I do a lot of my miles on that thing during the school year.
I have to say, that I had a great week of running.  All my runs went well despite how sore my legs were from last week's treadmill at the beginning of the week.  My tempo run was great and my long run was one of the best I've had in awhile.  I think it helps that it appears Fall has finally arrived.  It might even rain this week!
This week is a step down week, so I guess I am just going to take it easy!
